VLTD Installation for NH-27 Northeast India Transit Corridor

Assam Transport Department mandates AIS-140 certified VLTD for all commercial vehicles operating in interstate freight, long haul passenger transport, petroleum and LPG distribution, container haulage and goods movement along NH-27 and its connected highway extensions. Vehicles without a valid certificate are subject to challan, permit suspension and rejection during renewal at any of the six corridor RTOs (AS-01, AS-02, AS-04, AS-06, AS-19, AS-26). Interstate movement adds an additional layer of scrutiny since vehicles cross state checkpoints at Srirampur on the West Bengal border.

NH-27 is the primary lifeline connecting the Northeast to the rest of India. It carries the bulk of inbound consumer goods, pharmaceutical supplies, construction material and outbound tea, petroleum products and forest produce. Bongaigaon Refinery and Numaligarh Refinery feed tanker fleets that operate intensively along the corridor. Container freight moves through the Amingaon Inland Container Depot near Guwahati. Long haul bus services run between Northeast cities and Kolkata, Siliguri and beyond. Every segment of this freight and passenger ecosystem falls under VLTD compliance.
